On February 9th, 2006, our  son, Matthew (11 years old at the time), was hit by a car while skateboarding. Matthew was flown to Children’s National Medical Center (Children’s Hospital) in Washington DC, resuscitated en route and listed in grave condition upon his arrival. Matthew suffered severe traumatic brain injury, spent 13 days in a coma and a total of 37 days in the hospital.  Matthew was never expected to survive the accident. Due to the hard work of many doctors and nurses at Children’s Hospital, Matthew not only survived, but his recovery is nothing short of miraculous.

To follow Matthew's story from the beginning, visit Caringbridge

Matthew’s story is the story of a family’s love for a child. It is also the story of human compassion and faith demonstrated by the outpouring of love, support and prayers from a remarkable community. Finally, it is the story of an outstanding group of medical professionals who have dedicated their careers to the care of children.

Thank you, everyone, for your support,

Thomas and Karen Morgan
